WDW Things That Never Cease to Amaze Me

The quick service restaurants at the All-Star Resorts (and probably others) charge per slice of bread during breakfast time.

There is a market for turkey legs, and civilized, otherwise normal human beings seem to enjoy gnawing on an enormous chunk of pterodactyl meat while walking around in the hot sun.

The Hollywood Studios Backlot Tour is still a giant commercial for Pearl Harbor.

No matter how hungry, tired, cranky, or sunburnt you are, it’s impossible to walk through Adventureland without buying a Dole Whip.

Similarly, one cannot walk past Club Cool in Epcot without stopping in and spending entirely too much time in there.

There aren’t a lot of mosquitoes. I mean, it’s Florida, right? Shouldn’t there be bugs everywhere because of the heat and humidity?

And speaking of Florida, my hair always looks amazing after a WDW shower. Pixie dust, or swampy tap water? You decide.

We’ve been going to Epcot for years now, and still can’t figure out how to get from one end of Future World to the other without going through Mousegears.

The queue in The Magic of Disney Animation at Hollywood Studios is roped off, because there’s rarely a line, yet that queue contains some of the most beautiful Disney art to be found in WDW. (If you ask nicely, the Cast Member on duty will usually let you go check it out.)

When it comes to getting a FastPass, people will cut in line, kick machines, scream, throw tantrums, threaten Cast Members, and do just about everything short of selling their firstborn to Walt Disney Imagineering.

I love this list - thanks!

As for the mosquitoes, Disney has super-high-tech methods of pest control that make mosquitoes a non-factor. This thread was pretty interesting: http://community.babycenter.com/post/a10275925/bugs

As for my list, I would include:
- In a theme park, how can grown adults not understand how to read a map made entirely of pictures that look exactly like the attractions?

- Why do I hate exercise, yet can walk miles and miles for an entire week while in the heat and humidity at Disney?

- With all the fine dining at WDW, I would still prefer lunch at Columbia Harbour House over any other restaurant on property.

Again - love the list, and thanks!

I love your list! I don't have any to add at the moment, but I wanted to say thank you for that tip on asking to see the art in the Magic of Disney Animation queue. I haven't been there yet (really looking forward to going soon!) and I'll have to remember to do that. :)

With all the amazing desserts and treats at WDW why is it that I get so excited to have a Mickey Premium?

Why is it that so many people don't check ahead of time the height requirements of rides???? I hate seeing some poor child wailing away because this is the one ride they really want to go on.

Why do so many parents traumatize small children with a viewing of It's a Bugs Life? I don't think I have ever gone to see it without a parent or 4 sneaking out the left hand doors with a crying child. I love the show myself but I am 51, I don't get scared by huge spiders dropping from the ceiling . . .

Why is it so hard to get up to the alarm, at home, on a work day - when I can jump out of bed 1/2 hour before the alarm and make my traveling companions nuts while at WDW. Come on, lets GO!!!

I love your points. So true!
